Hi Muneeb,

I can see you already did a good research on the subject, and unfortunately that research is correct: there are no alerting options in FAST Search for SharePoint 2010 ootb. The mechanism that SharePoint uses for these alerts is very specific to SharePoint itself, and was not incorporated into how FS4SP handles things.

I have not being keeping up with the latest versions of FAST Search or SharePoint to know if this has changed recently, but with FAST Search for SharePoint 2010, this is not possible ootb indeed. The only alternative I know of is what the blog post you mentioned by email described: "a possible approach would be to save the queries, run them as batches, and then use an external mechanism to track results that have or have not been presented before."

Best,
Leo

Leonardo,
I am doing some research to figure out if FAST 4 Sharepoint supports "Alert Me" option as in Sharepoint Search. I have been getting conflicting information online. It seems it doesn't readily support the "Alert ME" Option but I did see this "Search alerts status" in the Central Administration-Service Applications for FAST Search Query and I have enabled it.Can you please confirm if it supports alert me option and if yes what features does it have. I am looking for alerts when there is a change in my saved query/alert or something like that.

Thanks,
Muneeb

Hi Leonida,

To tell you the truth I haven't updated this blog recently (since I'm not working with FS4SP anymore), but if you are still interested in subscribing, one way to do it is through its RSS feed http://searchunleashed.wordpress.com/feed/

Hope that helps!

Hi! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from
an established blog. Is it very difficult to set up your own blog?
I'm not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I'm
thinking about making my own but I'm not sure where to begin. Do you have any points or suggestions? Thanks

Hi Juergen!

I'm not sure about how all of this works with Search Server, but considering that this collapsing functionality already existed in this form with FAST ESP (which was the basis for FS4SP), I wouldn't expect Search Server to have it implemented in the same way.

Best,
Leo

Thank you for this very helpful explanation. Do you know if these arguments also apply to the Search Server (which is integrated in SP 2010) or only to FAST Search?
I tried to manipulate the fcoid like you did, but it didn`t work, still getting duplicates in my search results.
